After spending 9 months at Jarrad's interim home for wayward Mini Coopers, I now bring it to my home. I hope that it will not spend another nine months not running... |

Tearing It Off |
|
Interestingly enough, I think that removing the coating may not be as monumental a task as I had feared. Making a small scrape with the blade of my Leatherman, I was able to easily pull this small section off with my fingers. That makes the decision to remove it all much easier (I had given serious thought to just letting it be, and hope that it would hold). |

Here you can see the section that I removed, outlined in red, again done with my fingers (this one actually started with my finger nail between the layers). |

The Drip |
|
Looking at the layer under the drip, I noted that the Tie Coat's look had changed. There was some sort of reaction with the Tie Coat, and that may be what prevented the PRO-TEX liner from adhering properly. |

Peel Samples |

Here are some samples of the coating I pulled off of the car with my fingers. Note that there is a layer of primer stuck to the urethane coating! Also note how the inside of the layers have become textured, almost like fingerprints. |

And here is a closer look at the pattern. I believe that either the urethane coating is reacting with the Tie Coat, or the Tie Coat needs way more than 24 hours to cure... |
