The Mural

The flag looks fantastic! With a grey and white Mini, I didn't think it would look to good to have a red, white, and blue roof, so I asked Larry to paint it in grey tones. He was skeptical, at first, but even he admits it looks really good this way!

The Artist At Work

Here's Larry working on flatting the clear-coat on the rear quarter panel. It will be glass-smooth!

Front Flip

Larry air-brushed in the lines that would be on the front end if it were a metal assembly. This will give it a little bit of a stealthy look.

Front View

Here you see the lines air brushed in, from the front. Imagine a MK1 chrome grille, whiskers, moustache, bumper over-riders, and corner bars... Yes, I see it!

Pick-up Day!

Here is the finished shell, awaiting my arrival with a trailer.

Loaded

Without usable ramps, this was quite a chore, getting the Mini up on the trailer. But with Larry's help, we got it done!

Home at Last

Here it is, back home again! It's been gone a little over a year, and well worth the wait. Though if the body man had gotten his job done in a reasonable amount of time, I might actually have a running Mini to take to California with me!

Lend a Hand?

I enlisted the help of a couple of neighborhood toughs (Ian and Tom, nice guys, actually) to help get the Mini off the trailer. I had a short piece of plywood that helped make the unloading a little easier on this end.

Packed In

Here it will sit for a few days, until I can get started on rebuilding and mounting the subframes this weekend. I doubt it will all happen this weekend, but the goal is to get ti into a rolling condition before I head out to Roseville, CA, next month.

Garage Space

Having a tandem 3-car garage is not the best of configurations when you want to get things done, but it works. It beats a 2-car garage, for sure! At least I can get all of our vehicles into it...
