The Mad Lab |

Working safely (eye protection, filter mask, gloves, and vacuum to suck up particulates), you see my surroundings. |

Beaky Little Thing |

A shot of a harmless, un-suspecting head pocket, with beak still attached. |

Carbide Bit |
|
For the rough work, the tool of choice: A cheap carbide bit bought from a flea market, in a Dremel with a flex-shaft... |

Labours Fruits |

One of the combustion chambers with the beak ground off, and some slight modifications to the exhaust valve guide seat area. |

Exhaust Ledge- Casting Defect |

A little ledge that no doubt impedes flow of exhaust gases, and will have to be eliminated... |

Sharp Edge |
|
There is a slight lip under the area marked in yellow. It's a sharp lip, and I smoothed that off for better flow. Air will flow better past a radius than a sharp corner. |

I Think I'm Done |
|
I've knocked the beaks down flat, and used a stone to smooth over the gouges. Here's an example of the chamber. |

Finished? |
|
This is how the finish of the chambers looks. I'll no doubt have to grind out a bit more, and smooth off the finish, but I'm pretty happy with the results a couple of hours' work gave me! |
