Inside, Pre-finish

Here is the inside, prior to grinding down high spots and bubbles. I want to ensure that all large bubbles are removed as this could become a source of the layers (new and old) separating once heat from the engine is introduced.

Bubble

This is the kind of large bubble encapsulated in the fiber and resin matrix I'm trying to get rid of. This one is approximately 4 inches long.

Another Dreaded Bubble

It's gotta go!

Larger Opening

I've removed the vertical end pieces from the front that were there before. Looking at pictures of old Minis, my front end would have looked like this, in metal. This also gives me some more room to get more air into the engine compartment!

3/4 And a Way to Go!

You can see the condition that this thing is still in. It's much more rigid than the original, but still a long way from done.

Still Showing Ugly

Lots of cosmetic work will have to be done, but I've ground down the really bad glass and cracks in the glass. It should just be a matter of some glass-filled bondo, steady hand, good eye, and lots of time!

Fits Good!

Here is the flip, mounted to the front of the car. It looks good, but still a ways to go! I'll be glassing in some pockets on the inner portion of the wings to take up the tabs that are attached to the A-panels and ensure that the wings do not flair out while driving...

Finished Front

Here's a shot from the front. It's not for the squeamish, though. There are still some spots of blood on it...
