Careful Measures

Using a 1x2, cut to length, and a tape measure, I carefully located the brackets per instructions given to me by GoMini (the maker of the hinge setup I'm using).

Brackets Welded

Using the measurements for placement, I welded tabs onto the mesh, and then drilled holes for bolts.

Messy Business

Wire-wheeling out the RhinoLiner was messy business, but the wire cup brush was quite effective. This self-portrait is actually AFTER I had cleaned myself up with a vacuum.

Arm's Length

My arms were totally covered in a urethane fuzz that came off in sheets, because the powder was so fine.

In Place

Here you see the bracket/mesh in place, and urethane dust all over!

LizardSkinned

Here is a thick layer of LizardSkin on the center portion of the flip. This will protect the fiberglass from heat, as well as the eventual paint job. I used a brush for application, and it actually went on quite easily!

Cured

I bent the mesh to try to follow the contour of the area as well as I could, and then layed down a thick layer of resin, embedding the mesh into that resin. I know that resin is not very strong, but it should serve my needs.

Day's Work

And here, the final product (at least for now). I've sprayed the lower front valance black, as it didn't need LizardSkin. What little LizardSkin I have left will be used on the car's seat-back and bulkhead areas covered by the rotisserie plates.
