Corner Done

I finished up the corner of the boot lid that I started on Monday. This isn't the finished pic, but there's not that much difference. I ground down the welds, but because of the tight quarters, I couldn't grind that much. Since this section is boxed in, I don't think it will really matter all that much...

Companion Box Hole

The rear companion boxes tend to rot out in the bottoms. The MkIII was badly rotted, and when we tore it apart we found that the previous sod had tried to fix it with fiberglass, foam, anything he could get his hands on! The right way to fix it is to weld it. Here you see it cut out, with POR-15 on the inside.

Cracklin' Bacon

And this is the money shot. Once I turned up the current and feed, I got MUCH better weld quality. This will require less time with the grinder, which is where I spend the majority of my time on this car. I'm very happy with the depth of penetration, as well as surface finish, compared to previous welds. With this part of the car seeing some stresses, I feel better about having good penetration on this weld!
